This
delectable, limited edition Single Barrel Bourbon from Heaven Hill is
hand selected each vintage by Master Distiller Parker Beam and differs
from barrel to barrel and year to year. The word Single Barrel means the
bottle comes from just one premium newly charred American oak barrel,
which creates a distinctive flavor profile unto itself. This bourbon has
slipped under the radar for many Bourbon drinkers, but is highly valued
by the true connoisseur. The 2004 Vintage ranges from 9 to 10 years old
and the current bottling was barreled on 5/26/04 and bottled on 5/31/14
from Barrel No 771.
The Evan Williams Single Barrel 2004 Vintage Bourbon is a high rye whiskey, with a lush amber color, and subtle complexity of vanilla, citrus zing, and toasted pecan on the nose. The palate plays with a rich, rounded burst of charred oak, honeycomb, burnt orange, toffee apple, cinnamon, mace, nutmeg, and clove. The finish is long, with a warm, velvety balance and complexity that will reward most discerning bourbon drinkers. This is one I like to keep vintages of since they are all different, and at this price are worth buying a few to share with friends. - Casey Teague, Whisk(e)y Specialist, H&F Bottle Shop
