Review: Talisker 10 year old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Talisker 10 year old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
91.6 Proof | 750 mL
This savory Single Malt Scotch from the remote Isle of Skye off the western coast of Scotland was founded in 1830 by two brothers, Hugh and Kenneth McAskill. Talisker has a unique saline quality; the ocean literally crashes against the distillery walls imparting a blast of the North Sea into your glass. High levels of peated malt add rich smoke and depth to this ex-bourbon barrel-aged scotch, and the youngest age of the whisky in this bottle is 10 years old. Talisker takes charge with its smoky nose and dense toffee aromas. Honey, dried fruits, fig and citrus with savory smoke come across the palate followed by a complex finish that is long, with floral, seaweed, ginger, and dark chocolate notes. A perfect pairing for the fall season. - Casey Teague, Whisk(e)y Specialist, H&F Bottle Shop
